John P Walker – Senior Partner

Background

Our senior partner, John Walker, qualified as a solicitor in 1984. He began his legal career as a Magistrate’s Court Clerk, which gave him invaluable experience from both behind and in front of the bench! John moved into private practice and established Walker & Co in September 1991 with his wife Jacqueline.

Expertise

John’s main area of expertise is criminal litigation and he possesses extensive knowledge of the criminal justice system. John is also one of the Midland’s leading legal experts in motoring and road traffic offences and is often asked by the media for his commentary in this area.

As a leading authority on licensing and gaming law, John has built up an extensive client portfolio of local retail & leisure outlets, as well as some of the Midland’s largest networks of night clubs and casinos.

With more than 48 years experience in criminal and licensing matters, John leads our legal firm from the front and has raised the profile of the practice throughout the West Midlands.

• Holder of the Diploma in Magisterial Law.
• Member of and former President of Walsall Law Association
• Former Deputy Clerk to the Justices.

In his spare time….

John is a doting grandfather and a canal boat enthusiast!

You may not know this but . . .

• John has been a Rock drummer for 50 years and his last public appearance was at his son’s wedding in 2012.
• John is a rugby fan and supporter of Leicester Tigers.
• John has also had a rich and varied career in law where he acted for a client who had the real Marlon Brando as a character witness.
• Another client of John’s actually did kill her husband and buried him under the patio!
• John does accept less notorious clients!
