Background

Matthew studied Law at Keele University before completing the Legal Practice Course in York. He began his legal career with a Midlands firm in 2014 as a trainee solicitor, qualifying in 2016, and has since developed a strong reputation as a trusted commercial property specialist advising a wide range of clients across the sector.

Over the course of his career, Matthew has acted for developers, investors, lenders, landlords, tenants and business owners on transactions ranging from day-to-day portfolio management matters through to complex, high-value acquisitions, developments and secured lending arrangements.

Matthew is the Head of Commercial Property.

Matthew is a commercial property lawyer with extensive experience across the full spectrum of commercial property work, including development projects, acquisitions and disposals, landlord and tenant matters, and finance and refinancing transactions. His practice spans both transactional and strategic advisory work, acting on matters involving complex property portfolios, structured finance arrangements, site assembly, development funding, and investment acquisitions and disposals.

He is particularly experienced in guiding clients through transactions with multiple moving parts, where coordination, risk management and commercial clarity are essential.

Outside of work, Matthew is an avid supporter of England cricket and a committed Hull City A.F.C. fan. Much of his spare time is spent with his two young children and enjoying family life.
