Matthew Roach – Director

Background

Having found the law later in life, Matthew attained a qualifying law degree (LL.B) from the Open University and then subsequently went on to qualify as a Chartered Legal Executive.

He joined Walker Solicitors in February 2022 as an Associate Director having spent the last 3 years in-house with a large national PLC house builder.

Expertise

Matthew is the Head of Residential Development.

With 17 years experience in the sector, Matthew is a specialist in all aspects of residential development including joint ventures, framework agreements, construction contracts, planning, land acquisitions and disposals, site set up, and plot sales. He has also acted for private developers of all sizes. In addition to his two seats in-house with large PLC house-building company, he has also spent several years at full-service law firms in Birmingham.

Matthew is an experienced social housing lawyer with over 5 years experience acting for Registered Providers in England and Registered Social Landlords in Wales. His experience includes site setup, shared ownership plot sales, lease extensions (statutory and by agreement), leasehold enfranchisement, acquiring land and dwellings by way of golden brick or turnkey arrangements, advising on construction contracts for RPs and other housing-related matters.

In his spare time…

Matthew loves football (watching not playing) and golf (playing not watching). He also loves spending time with his family and young puppy. Matthew has a penchant for south American indie music, playing guitar, and the Spanish language and culture.

Matthew was admitted as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2014 and is regulated by CILEx Regulation.
